From the menu to the carpets, each detail in this place has been thought through and carefully selected to contribute to the overall atmosphere and theme. Owner Maurice Loeb has worked hard to pull together the vision for SumitrA and keep it consistent throughout the years. The shop's aestethic is grounded in Maurice's Moroccan birthplace and complemented by decor that trace their roots to his vast travels and experiences. The mix creates a fantastic space that is paradoxically colorful while subtle - vibrant while quiet. SumitrA continues to operate with its original mission front and center: to create a relaxing venue for the community to gather and connect. The vibrations here are certainly achieving that mission. Offering

A key underlying factor that has always been part of the SumitrA model - an approachable style for serving top quality CBD products, including CBD-infused coffee. SumitrA has a long-standing history with the products. They were an early pioneer in the development of regulations and operational guidelines for brick-and-mortar CBD retailers within the state of Florida. They serve a wide variety of CBD infusions from both the food and drink menus. The staff are happy to explain the offerings, educate customers, and answer any and all questions related to the offerings. In addition, SumitrA serves up espresso-based drinks, pourovers, drip coffees, teas, and a selection of cacao-based chocolate drinks carefully prepared using 2,000 year-old Mayan recipes. Nothing at SumitrA is prepared without the utmost attention to quality and authenticity.

Hardware

The Centerpiece: Casadio Dieci Two Group A2 Automatic

SumitrA uses a two group Casadio Dieci Italian espresso machine to pull its shots throughout the day. Authenticity and product consistency is critical at SumitrA, and the Casadio machine provides a steady base for most coffee drinks sold each day at the shop. Casadio started producing coffee equipment over 70 years ago in Bologna, Italy. The company was absorbed into the much larger Gruppo Cimbali organization in 2009, and now compliments a number of other equipment lines in the portfolio including La Cimbali and Faema Italian espresso machines. Gruppo Cimbali has a 100+ year old legacy in the industry.

Sourcing Style: Responsibly Sourced, Direct Relationships

Roaster: SumitrA

SumitrA locally roasts their beans to ensure quality and consistency in the products being served at the shop. The proof is not only evident in SumitrA, but also in the multiple coffee shops across 10 states to which they supply their roasted coffee. The beans for their espresso drinks are roasted to a traditional dark profile, and the beans serving as the base for their filter coffees are taken a little further along in the dark roast profile to bring out a different layer of flavors. SumitrA has developed relationships with many growers - Maurice takes pride in having a clear understanding of where and how his natural products are grown, and has traveled to multiple farms worldwide to establish these relationships. This same sentiment holds true for the sources used for cacao and hemp at SumitrA. Careful thought and understanding is behind each product's supply chain to maintain quality and uphold responsible standards.
